Compactive is a German engineering startup that focuses on the deployment of solid state actuators which is patented and at TRL 9+, this technology is based on shape memory alloy wires which are integrated into a mesh. Using shape memory alloys allows for the actuation to be triggered by either an electrical input or via heat exposure.

The SMART Tire Company (STC) designs and manufactures the world's first fuel efficient, never flat, eco-friendly and high load index airless tires made from shape memory alloys. Based on tire technology originally invented at NASA for the Mars rover program, STC is developing proprietary commercial applications for micro mobility, automotive and aerospace, as well as lunar tires for the next Lunar Terrain Vehicle. It is of note that the tire assembly seen on the right is still covered in rubber to provide traction, noise insulation and safety.
